Getting Organized And Getting Started

February 25, 2011 by Tom Watson

To be successful, you need to be organizedGetting started in your own cleaning business can seem like a daunting task.

You need to do so many things to get going, that it makes your head spin.

So many people let their dream die at the starting gate because of this, which is sad because overcoming this dilemma is very easy to do.

With that in mind, I’ll lay out some tips to get you started with the process.

1 – Make sure you write out your plan for getting started. Once you sit down and think the process through, you’ll realize just how simple it is. You may have fifty items to get done, but most of them are as easy as pie to pull off.

2 – Put a date to it. In other words, take the items from the list you just created and put them in your calendar. This will increase the likelihood of them getting accomplished.

3 – Break the larger tasks down into smaller ones. Some tasks are too big, and need to be broken down into a manageable size. Just complete each smaller task until the larger one is finished.

4 – Keep a daily to-do list. This keeps you focused like a laser until things get done. It’s much more difficult to ignore what needs to be done if you put it to paper. Just list each item and include a brief description of what needs to be accomplished.

5 – Prioritize the list. Once you have your to-do list made up each day, put them in a logical order. This keeps you moving in an orderly fashion.

6 – Don’t allow yourself to get “stuck”. Many times one task will take longer than expected, or be more complicated than you originally thought. When that happens (and it will from time to time) keep the wheels moving on other tasks. In other words, don’t let the train come screeching to a sudden stop.

7 – Think about the benefits of completing your goals. Nothing will fire you up more than imagining yourself enjoying the fruits of your labor down the road. Keep the thought of achieving your goals in “front” of you at all times to avoid any let downs from occurring.

Well there you have it, a few key tips on getting organized when starting your own cleaning business. I think you will be amazed by just how easy it is once you decide to get your feet moving.
