House Cleaning Checklist

I’m a firm believer in using a house cleaning checklist while cleaning houses. These have always kept our staff focused on what needs to be done. Without it, there is a good chance someone would be missing some small detail.

Making everyone use a house cleaning checklist also means the excuses as to why something didn’t get done will be greatly reduced. After all, if your staff can’t leave a house cleaning job until the checklist is complete then NOTHING should get missed.

Customers also LOVE IT when you use a house cleaning checklist.

This is because it makes your company, not to mention your staff, look like they are “on top of things”. This then adds to the level of professionalism your customer “sees”, which makes them happy they hired YOU.

As I’m fond of saying, PERCEPTION plays a large role in whether or not the customer is going to be happy with your service. Sure the cleaning is important, but HOW YOU ARE VIEWED is a key component as well.

Using a checklist also makes the whole process more standardized, which keeps the homeowner from asking for too many “freebies”. If the task isn’t on the list, it doesn’t get done (without an extra charge anyway).

The act of using a house cleaning checklist is just a really good idea that you should consider. It helps your staff get it done right the first time PLUS it has the added benefit of pleasing the customer. It’s a win-win scenario in my book and that’s why we use them.

You will find the house cleaning checklists available below. Please note that due to the numerous house styles and varying work schedules that are possible, no one checklist can sum them all up. This means you may need to modify them as needed.

I have created two versions of the checklist. The first one is in PDF format and is for those of you who are just looking for a basic cleaning checklist. The other version is in OpenOffice format, and is easily modified if you have the free OpenOffice program.
